1- The Signal Editor was developed during a period of 1 year at the Computational NeuroEngineering Laboratory at the Unviersity of Florida, Gainesville, FL 32611, by the Ph. D. student Hann -Go Choi. The testing and fine tuning was a team effort.

The program was developed to analyze and visualize physiological data, but can be used as a general purpose analysis and visualization tool for multi-channel numeric data (as collected by analog to digital converters).
3- Signal editor is a software tool to analyze and visualize multichannel numeric data. The program reads a multichannel signal file from disk (some means have to collect the data), configures the display (number of channels, amplitude, display time scale) and lets the user "navigate" across the data file.
The program allows the user to perform fine measurements on the data (amplitude, duration and slopes of waveforms), compare differences between signal channels, and perform FFTs (Fast Fourier transforms). Moreover, the user can print portions of the signal and create new data files with selected segments.
Finally, and this a very promising feature, the program allows the user to register user defined filtering algorithms, which means that the possibilities for expansion are unlimited.
4- Signal Editor is being routinely used in the Computational NeuroEngineering laboratory as an analysis and visualization research tool for brain wave research, electromyography, speech research and music analysis.
5- The software was developed under NextStep verion 1.0 and runs on version 2.0/1.
6- The software can be installed using the NeXT Step installation options. In order to do that, double click on the icon for Signal.pkg. Once the program is installed, Look for the executable file SignalEditor, and double-clik on its icon to start execution.
7- A short data file is included as a demonstration. The software is not shareware.
